Mrs. Velma Louise Meese Thompson, 76 of Bicknell, went into her eternal slumber on Thursday, March 4, 2021 while at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Velma was born in New Castle, IN on May 11, 1944, daughter to the late Emmett Meese and Velma June Smith Meese.
Velma was married to David Edward Thompson in Worthington, IN on August 4, 1976. She was an upholsterer and worked for Thompson Construction and Upholstery for over 20 years. Velma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and they will all miss her dearly.
Velma is survived by; her husband, David E. Thompson, children; Tina (Fred) Bangerter of Vincennes, Curtis Akers of Washington, Dee Thompson of Odon, Angela (Chad) Barber of N.H., and Sonya (Lindsey) Thompson of Bicknell; 22 grandchildren; and many, many great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Robert (Beverly) Meese of Anderson; 2 sisters; Leona Meese of New Castle, and Nancy White of AL.
She was preceded in death by; her parents, son, Warren J. Akers of N.C.; a granddaughter, Sara Louise Akers; and a sister, Linda Miller.
Services will be on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes, Bicknell Chapel, with Pastor John Moreland officiating. Burial will follow in Bicknell Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 8, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. also at the funeral home.
