Richard Ryder Obituary

Richard Lee (Dick) Ryder passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at the age of 86. 

Richard was born, the child of Darwin and Cecilia Ryder on January 29, 1935 in Vincennes Indiana. 

Richard Ryder graduated from Lincoln High School and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was past president and member of The Harmony Society for over 60 years, as well as a member of the VFW, American Legion, and 40 and 8; he also spent many years volunteering for Toys for Tots along with other Marine Core Veterans and was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and was the Mayor of Ryder City.

Richard is survived by; his loving wife, JoAnn Ryder; daughters, Michelle Ryder Grebel (Paul); Anna Tewell (Leo); step-children, Cheryl Reeder, Denise Barlow Cohen; sisters, Judy Ryder, Susie Kratochvil and Rose Marie Bauer; and a brother, John  Arthur Ryder (EU).

He was preceded in death by; his parents; siblings, Robert Eugene Ryder, James Paul Ryder (Dee), Darwin A. Ryder “Stinky”, and Margaret Ann Kimmens; step-children, Lonnie and Johnny Barlow.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, November 11, 2021 with Father Tony Ernst officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes, Vincennes Chapel from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Knox County Humane Society or Toys for Tots. You may leave an online condolence at www.fredrickandson.com.
