Monica Carie Obituary

Monica K. Carie, 92 of Vincennes went to her heavenly home  on Saturday, January 30, 2021.  Monica was born on March 11, 1928 in Knox County to the late Henry Kramer and Josephine Vieck Kramer.  Monica was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, St.Francis Xavier Altar Society, K of C Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary of which she was a past president.   She was an avid supporter of Rivet High School Sports. She along with her late husband was awared the Brute' Award for service to the church and community of Vincennes.  
    She  enjoyed sewing, cooking, needlework, flower gardening and was known for her Christmas candy making.  Monica worked at Strachaun Hasty Dept. Store in the 1950's, worked as a cook in the cafeteria at St. John's Elementary School from which she retired.
    Monica is survived by her children; Linda Trant of Montpelier, In., Marie Carie of Vincennes, Kevin Carie(Cathy) of Vincennes, Brian Carie (Christy) of Vincennes; a step-sister Barbara Carie(Lawrence) of Effingham, Il; 7 Grandchildren; Rebecca (Brian) Saylor of Pittsboro In, jessica (Brian) Kitterman of Hartford City In, Deanna (Karl) Hofmann of Eaton Ohio, Jeremy (Sarah) Trant of Hartford City In, Lauren Carie of Indianapolis, Wade Carie,  Zachary Carie both of Vincennes; and 14 Great-Grandchildren.  
    She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse Raphael Carie, infant daughter Mary Ann Carie; brothers: Robert, Richard, Olan, Raymond, Wilfred and a sister Hilda McGowan; Step sisters, Anna Marie Lane, Adaline Carie, and Rosella McCoy.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2021 from 4:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. held at Frederick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes, Vincennes Chapel with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John's Catholic Church on Thursday, February 4th, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. with Father Tony Ernst officiating.  Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Christian Education Foundation (CEF), Rivet Sports or St. Francis Xavier Parish.
