Joshua David Like

Joshua David Like, known affectionately as Josh to his friends and family, passed away on April 13, 2024, at the age of 37 in his hometown of Vincennes, Indiana. Josh entered this world on April 2, 1987, in the same close-knit community where he would later leave an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have known him. He carried the spirit of Vincennes within him always, embodying the values of kindness and love throughout his life's journey.

Josh is survived by a family who adored him: his parents, Joann and Dane Like of Vincennes; his biological father, Anthony Brown; his treasured son, Tucker Like of Oaktown; his dear sister, Alyssa Like of Newburgh; and his paternal grandmother, Ann Moffett. His life was seasoned with the narratives of those who came before him, particularly the cherished memories of his maternal grandmother, Esther Hamilton; his great-aunt, Florence Twitty; as well as his paternal grandparents; Karen and Richard Faith; and great-uncle, Bob Horton, whose legacies he held in high regard, also preceded Josh in death.  Also grieving, Sierra Ballew, long-time companion and her two daughters, Adelynn and Cyleah. 

Josh's professional path was as variegated as it was fulfilling. He dedicated many years to being a reliable truck driver, a profession that stemmed from his love for driving, sparked at an early age by accompanying his grandfather on milk routes. Beyond the open roads, he served his community with dedication as a compassionate funeral home assistant for Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes, an EMT, a bus driver for P.W. Mischler, and honorably as a Knox County Deputy Coroner.

Josh's life was a testament to the value of hard work, service, and the simple joys of life. His kind and loving nature resonated with all who crossed his path, and his legacy will continue to inspire those he has left behind. He will be deeply missed, yet fondly remembered as a man who truly knew the art of sharing joy with every mile traveled.

There will be a visitation on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home, Vincennes Chapel. A private Committal service will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made to Tucker Like for a scholarship fund that has been set up.
