Georgia L. (Summitt) Fitzgerald

Georgia L. Fitzgerald, age 89, of Washington, Indiana, passed away on May 24, 2026, in Washington, Indiana. She was born on August 13, 1936, in Wayne, Michigan, and lived a life marked by independence, and a spirited personality that left a lasting impression on those who knew her.

Georgia attended Washington High School and carried the values of hard work, resilience, and family throughout her life. She devoted herself to her home and family as a homemaker, a role she embraced with care and dedication. Her life was centered on the people she loved, and she found meaning in the everyday moments that brought comfort, laughter, and connection to those around her.

She will be remembered by her devoted daughter, Debbie Martindale and her husband, Rex, of Smithville. Georgia also leaves behind her loving grandchildren, Jessica Groteguth and her husband, Max, Tyler Basham, and Michael Basham, as well as three great-great granddaughters and a great-great grandson who brought her joy and pride. Her family was the heart of her life, and she treasured each generation with deep affection.

Georgia had a spirited nature that made her memorable to everyone she met. She enjoyed spending time at the casino, playing cards, and, in her own lively way, stirring the pot. Her sense of humor and lively presence brought energy to family gatherings and social occasions alike. She had a way of making her opinions known and her personality felt, and those qualities became part of the charm that family and friends will always remember.

Those who knew Georgia will remember her as a woman who lived life on her own terms and brought character to every room she entered. She was strong-willed, engaging, and full of life, and her spirited approach to the world made her unforgettable.
