Bernard Sager

Bernard Sager, 87, of Freelandville, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, October 6, 2021.

On September 27, 1934, Bernard was born to the late Alfred & Emelia (Volle) Sager in Bicknell, IN. Bernard married Billie Jean Vance on August 30, 1978, and they made their home on the Sager farm outside of Freelandville. He enjoyed farming, woodworking, reading, and spending time with his family.

Bernard was confirmed at Bethel Church on March 21, 1948, and graduated from Freelandville High School in 1952. He was drafted into the US Army in 1957. Bernard was a member of the White River Valley Antique Association and the Freelandville Improvement Club.

He is survived by; his wife, Billie, sister Wilma Strange, several nieces and nephews, including Larry Bland, Susan Newberry, William Vance, Martha Thomson, Carmen Horton, Curt Strange, and their families; sister-in-law Barbara Vance, and brother-in-law Tom Vance.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be at Freelandville Christian Church, 313 E State Rd. 58, Freelandville, IN 47535, on Saturday, October 9, 2021, from 10:00 A.M. until Noon with a service following the visitation. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. The family requests that visitors wear masks to the visitation and funeral.
