Amy Gardner Obituary

Amy June Gabhart Gardner 91, of Washington, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

She was born in Alfordsville on June 21, 1931 to the late Howard D. Gabhart and Enid Baker Gabhart.

Amy retired from Work One in Loogootee where she worked as a secretary. She was a member of Montgomery Christian Church and was a self-taught pianist. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano and organ for church and for nursing homes. Amy was also a very accomplished artist having illustrated many published books. Amy was also an amazing cook who enjoyed sharing her bounty with others.

Those left to mourn the loss of Amy are; a daughter, Eva Lorraine Thomas-Gullen of Washington; grandchildren, Clint Morgan (Amanda) of Washington, Julie Hoogenboom (Wes) of Granger, and Scott Gullen (Yuyan) of GA; great-grandchildren, Delaney and Taylin  Morgan, Owen, Silas, and Gwen Hoogenboom; siblings, Margaret Kennedy (Pete), of Lancaster, CA, Georgia Prewett-Buckley (Byron) of Washington, Martha Brammer (Howard) of Mason, OH, Thomas Gabhart (Tonyia) of Greenbrier, TN, Lorna Cook (Stuart) of Duluth, GA, Annie Snyder (John) of Springboro, OH, Phillip Gabhart of Alfordsville,IN, and Sarah Mathis of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Gardner of Cincinnati, OH; two sons, Glenn Richard Thomas and Gary Wayne Thomas; and siblings, Charles Gabhart, Wyndham Gabhart, Christina Roach, and Mary Frances Bell.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to; Amy’s nephews, Shawn and Nathan Gabhart, friends, Cheryl and Glenn Gilley, and the staff at The Villages at Oakridge for their wonderful care, Heart to Heart Hospice, and Fredrick and Son-Gill Funeral Home.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the next Gabhart/Baker reunion at Jeremiah Park in Alfordsville, IN.
