James Benedict Obituary

James E. “Bud” Benedict, 89, of Bicknell passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Bud was born in Bicknell on October 17, 1929 the son of the late William Benedict and Ellen Ethel (Barnes) Benedict. He was a graduate of the class of 1948 Bicknell High School, and shortly after was married to his loving wife, Eldina Benedict on May 6, 1951 and she survives.
Bud served his country in the United States Army, and was a life-time member of the V.F.W. He was also a life-time member of the Bicknell Elks Club, French Club, Edwardsport Masonic Lodge, and was very active in the Bicknell Country Club. Bud enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid golfer and fisherman. He was also a member of Bethel Church and was employed by PSI as a lineman for 38 years.
Other survivors include; his daughter, Carole Albrecht (Bill) of Bicknell; one son, Buddy Benedict (Cheryl) of Evansville; two sisters, Lynn Mundy (Gary) ,and Lora Carlisle (Gib); one brother, David Snellenberger (Linda); and three grandchildren, Jeff Albrecht (Tara), Amy Hurt (Justin), Jonathon Benedict (Cassie); and three great-grandchildren, Wade and Jovi Albrecht, and Cora Hurt.
He was also preceded in death by; his step-father, Eldon (Ham) Snellenberger; an infant daughter, Nancy Benedict; two sisters, Lou Edith Hedrick, and Eunice Hill; and one brother, Billy Jo Benedict.
There will be a visitation at Bethel Church, 13673 E. State Rd. 58, Edwardsport, IN 47528 on Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Funeral Service to follow on Monday at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Mike DeCoursey officiating. Burial will be in Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt, Bicknell Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Church in Bud’s memory.
