Gary Franklin "Blue" Kent

Gary Franklin “Blue” Kent, 78, Vincennes, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Gary was born May 19, 1939, in Dubois County, the son of Sam and Helen (Parson) Kent. He married Sandra Kent. He worked for Vectren as a service man. Gary was a Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and the Junior Governor of the Moose Lodge for 4 years. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed being by the lake, gardening and canning.

Gary is survived by his son, Kevin “Dee” (Diana) Kent of Vincennes; grandchildren; Steven (Adrienne) Kent of Marshall, IL, Cynthia “Cyndi” Murphy of Vincennes; great-granchildren, Kailyn Murphy, Drayk Murphy, Addison Kent, Keagyn Kent, Raegyn Kent, Kinzley Kent, Gage Smith and Mollie Smith; also survived by his girlfriend, Suzanne Tougaw of Vincennes, and her daughter Maria (Ray Alan) Ruppel, and their children, Elizabeth and Patrick who loved him and considered him grandfather; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sandra; and daughter, Cynthia Lynn Kent.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Dave Fleck officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, January 26, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a vigil service held at 7:00 PM at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Vincennes Chapel, 313 Church St. He will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.
