Franklin Buckthal, 80, of Freelandville passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Hospital.
He was born on October 24,1938 in Freelandville, IN, the son of Louis and Helen (Meyer) Buckthal. He was a graduate of the 1956 Freelandville class and was a farmer all his life. He also served in the Army military police and as a paratrooper for four years. He was a member of the Freelandville Christian Church and charter member of the White River Valley Antique Association. His hobbies included pulling antique tractors, collecting and working on antique equipment, and playing euchere with friends. He married his wife Vicky (Curry) on September 3,1965.
He is survived by his brother Allen, sister Janice Courter, wife Vicky, child Chad Buckthal, and two grandchildren, Mason and Blake. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday April 10, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Old Mariah Creek Christian Church 8978 Pepmeier Road, Oaktown, Indiana 47561, with Matt Hoffman presiding with burial to follow in Mariah Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. Until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday April 9, 2019 at the Church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Alzheimer's Association or Freelandville Community Home.
