Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Brackin, 89, Vincennes, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018 at Bridgepointe Health Campus. Betty was born May 16, 1929, in Knox county, the daughter of David and Norine J. (Frey) Speth. She worked for the Brown Shoe Factory, the Cigar Factory, Good Samaritan Hospital, and part-owner of the Brackin Cafe. Betty was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, the Altar Society and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary. She was also a community worker for the center in Decker.
Betty is survived by her children, Sandra (Jesus) Magana of Vincennes and Everett “Joe” (Debbie) Brackin of Decker; grandson, Chad (Adrian) Brackin; granddaughters, Allie and Kelsey Beamon; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Brandon, Dakota, Nicholas and Damon Brackin and Kinsley Nowaskie; sister, Margie Witsman of Decker; and brother, Charles (Lois) Speth of Allendale, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Brackin in December 2001; parents; brother, David Speth; and sister, Geraldine Helen Speth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dave Fleck officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Vincennes Chapel, 313 Church St. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.
