Kathy Jo (Balthus) Balthus

Kathy Jo Balthus, a lifelong resident of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2024, at the age of 66. Born on May 17, 1957, to the late William R. Balthus and Margaret "Peg" Balthus, Kathy's life was a testament to her creative spirit and her unwavering kindness.

Kathy's legacy is carried on through her loving family. She is survived by her devoted son, Richard Adams, and her cherished grandchildren, Dakota, Shelby, Riley, and Mason Adams and Keeton Walker. Her great-grandchildren, Novah Combs and Franklin Mulkey, brought immense joy to her later years, and she was eagerly anticipating the arrival of two more great-grandchildren. Kathy's siblings, William Balthus (Casey), Bonnie Balthus, Jean Welton, Connie Young (Louie), John Balthus (Bev), and Georgetta Gaines (Jim), sister-in-law, Jo Ann Balthus, and brother-in-law, Don Matthews, along with her 44 nieces and nephews, will fondly remember her warmth and generosity.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, her son Joey Adams, her brother Francis Balthus, her sister Donna Mathews, brother-in-law Mike Welton, and nephew Chad Balthus.

Throughout her life, Kathy was a compassionate caregiver, dedicating herself to the well-being of others. Her creative passions included sewing, crafts, ceramics, and painting. Kathy had an affinity for shoes, which was matched only by her talent for creating beautiful things with her hands.

Those who knew Kathy will remember her as the epitome of friendliness and kindness. Her creative soul and gentle demeanor left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Kathy Jo Balthus will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those she has left behind.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home. Per Kathy’s request, she will be cremated.
