Russell Duane Wilkerson, 70, Linton, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018. Duane was born June 2, 1947, in Indianapolis, the son of James Marshall and Carol Louise (Johnson) Wilkerson. He was an equipment mechanic at Crane. Duane was a map making photographer for the United States Air Force and he served in the Vietnam War. He was also a D.A.V. He was a member of the VFW Post 7118 in Linton and the American Legion. He was a National Hill Climb Champion. He enjoyed working in the garage, working on and fixing sweepers, fishing and loved his animals.
Duane is survived by his daughter, Carrie Ann (Jason) Miller of Snow Hill, NC; son, Scott Murray Wilkerson of Winston-Salem, NC; four grandchildren, Salom Wilkerson, James Wilkerson, Levi Miller, Venancia Miller; sister, Peggy Robbins of Bicknell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, “Friday”; son, James Marshall Wilkerson; and sister, Anita Wilkerson Bright-Phillips.
A graveside service will be held at 1P.M. Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Bicknell Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Carty officiating, military honors will be conducted by the All Weather Firing Squad. Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Bicknell Chapel assisted the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 7118, 190 S. Main St. Linton, IN 47441.
